Can cut-down image editors like Adobe Photoshop Elements be used for professional design? Print Design with Photoshop Elements
The biggest issue with Photoshop Elements, when it comes to using it for professional print design, is that it lacks CMYK separation facilities. That same problem applies to most of the cheaper image editors. Paint Shop Pro, The Gimp and so on all lack CMYK support and certainly don't include spot colors such as the Pantone Matching System. Photoshop Elements and other low end graphics programs also don't have many of the advanced color retouching tools that the full version has. They are fine for creating web graphics and for home photo use, but can't be relied upon for professional print design or prepress work.
