Adobe InDesign invisible page items and characters can be displayed and hidden with keyboard shortcuts. Showing invisible items in Adobe InDesign
Show and hide invisible is a feature that QuarkXpress users are used to toggle between by using the Command + I keyboard shortcut on a Mac and Ctrl + I on a WIndows PC. This command would show the various formatting characters that can often come in useful when setting type. InDesign also has this feature, but it is accessible either by going to the Type menu and selecting Show Hidden Characters. Or by using the keyboard shortcut Command + Option/Alt + I, on a Mac, or Control + I on a PC. Neither of these features should be confused with the ability of both Quark and InDesign to hide page layout elements, such as guides and page borders. In QuarkXpress this is achieved by pressing F7 to hide guides and in InDesign this is known as the Preview Mode and is accessed by deselecting any page content and pressing the W key. Both these features can also be accessed from the View menu item.
