Who said geeks lacked social skills? |
Scientists in the UK have taught a robot to play pass the parcel in an attempt to make our robotic companions in the future behave more like humans.
Reported in UK IT web site The Register, Professor Kerstin Dautenhahn, of the University of Hertfordshire, told The BBC "I want robots to treat humans as human beings, and not like other robots." Apparently, the aim is to socialise robots so that they can mix better with humans.
So, it appears that our key to the brave new world will involve relaxing evenings after work, in the garden, playing pass the parcel with Marvin the Paranoid Android. We, at design : talkboard, can hardly wait. |
