Ragged edge
extend. left aligned, right aligned, ragged left, ragged right
Ragged text is the non-aligned edge of an unjustified block of text. If the text is right aligned, then the left edge of the copy will be ragged and visa versa.
Readability
The overall appearance of a block, or page, of typeset text. The combination of a legible typeface, combined with a well formatted block of copy, contributes to the readability of a document.
Readability is closely related to legibility and the two concept cannot be realistically separated by any graphic designer who is serious about professional typesetting.
