Italic
extend. oblique
Italic letterforms are variations of a type-style which are generally slanted at an angle. For printed design work, it is crucial that the italic fonts used are a specifically designed character set and not simply a roman typeface, which has been visually slanted by the software (faux italics) to give an italic appearance. This faux italic will not print properly when sent to an imagesetter for professional reproduction.
