Fonts
extend. founts, typefaces, faces
There is much confusion between the terms font and typeface. Since the advent of digital typography, the differences between fonts and typefaces have become trivial and make absolute definitions difficult.
Originally a font (or fount) referred to a complete set of characters for a typeface at a single type size. Since the advent of digital publishing - with DTP technology - the single type size reference has become redundant.
Nowadays a font would be used to describe the weight, width and style of a typeface, as represented by the digital file itself. A collection of font faces that were designed to be used together myay be referred to as a font family. Although perhaps typeface family would be strictly more accurate.
