Cap-height is the height from the baseline, to the top of a standard capital letter.

Cap-line

Invisible horizontal line that runs across the uppermost tips of standard uppercase letters in a line of text.

Cicero

A European unit of type measurement. Apparently named after an ancient Roman lawyer. 1 Cicero equals 4.51 millimeters.

Condensed fonts

A condensed font or typeface is one where the letters and kerning are narrower than the main font face. Useful for using when the column width is very narrow. Condensed typefaces will usually be a sans-serif font.

Counter

The 'hollow' space of a letterform that is enclosed by the bowl.

Crossbar

The stroke that connects two stems of a letterform. Can be either horizontal or diagonal.
