Graphic arts updates and upgrades 2007Design software updates, May 2007Adobe updates Camera Raw Adobe has released an update to its Camera Raw plugin for Photoshop CS3 to version 4.1. The Camera Raw 4.1 release adds support for a number brands of digital cameras, including Canon EOS-1D Mark III, Fuji FinePix S5 Pro, Nikon D40x and two models from Olympus, the E-410 and SP-550 UZ. Camera Raw 4.1 is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than CS3. Adobe have also announced an update for DNG Converter, their free utility for converting digital files from more than 150 cameras to the DNG camera raw format. 30 May 2007 Light Crafts releases LightZone 3.0 LightZone, the photo-editing software targeted at digital SLR photographers, has been upgraded to version 3.0. The new version adds new photographic management tools and features to speed up the photo editing process 22 May 2007 New InDesign plugins Prepress software developer Rorohiko Ltd, has announced the release of its free Lightning Brain LikeFindsLike for InDesign' Plug-In. This is the next installment in a number of free InDesign plugins from the company. The plugin allows designers to select many different loosely related items on a page or double page spread. Instead of having to shift and click to select a number of similar frames, as designer can select a single frame and then use the Select All Similar function to automatically select all other similar frames on the page. The plugin is available for InDesign versions CS, CS2 and CS3 and for both Mac OS X and Windows PCs. 11 May 2007 Microsoft releases patch for Vista bugs Microsoft has released a series of patches aimed at addressing a number of security vulnerabilities in its software. The 19 vulnerabilities affect numerous parts of the Windows operating system, including the Windows Vista, Office, the Internet Explorer web browser and an ActiveX control. 10 May 2007 QuickTime Apple has updated QuickTime to version 7.1.6 to plug a security flaw that could potentially compromise OS X if the user visits a web site with a maliciously-crafted Java applet. The security issue affect Mac and Windows systems that have the QuickTime extension installed. 1 May 2007 onOne Software announces free upgrades for its Photoshop CS3 plug-ins Photoshop plug-in manufacturer onOne has announced the release of CS3 compatible plug-ins for its complete range of graphics tools. The free upgrades are available for all registered users and include Intellihance Pro 4.2, Mask Pro 4.1, Genuine Fractals 5 and PhotoFrame Pro 3.1. As well as Photoshop CS3 compatibility, there some new features including support for Intel equipped Apple Macs, support for 16-bit images and free video tutorials. Genuine Fractals 5 also gets an improved scaling algorithm and multi-processor support. Although Photoshop CS3 plug-in the upgrades are available immediately, the plug-ins will also be sold in the onOne Software Plug-In Suite 3 which will be available from May 10 2007. 1 May 2007
