Lightwave 9.2

3D software publisher NewTek has upgraded it's high end program Lightwave to version 9.2. This version has improvements to the rendering process and also adds various modeling and selection tools.

Strata 3D plugins for Photoshop Extended

Strata, the publisher behind various 3D design and modeling software tools, has announced three new plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended. The three Photoshop plug-ins, Strata Design 3D[in], Strata Foto 3D[in] and Strata Live 3D[in] and add numerous features to Adobe's graphics powerhouse.

For example, Strata Design 3D[in] allows designers to add 3D content and match the perspective in Photoshop as well as import Illustrator outlines to create 3D objects; the Strata Foto 3D[in] plug-in allows graphic artists to generate 3D models from photographic images; and Strata Live 3D[in] enables creatives to develop real-time interactive 3D content for both websites and PDF files.

QuarkXpress 7.2 update

Quark have released a free update for its DTP software application. QuarkXPress 7.2 is a maintenance release and offers numerous enhancements, including Microsoft Windows Vista support; user interface issues with Job Jackets; allowing users to specify resolutions for different types of objects when flattening; support for Kodak's new Black Point Compensation CMM in the Color Management Module; and support for Quark XPert Tools Pro XTensions.

QuarkXpress 7 was released in May 2006 for Macs and Windows PCs and the Universal Binary of QuarkXpress, which added native support for the new Intel Macs, was released in August last year.

New Masking Tool for Adobe Photoshop CS

Paravue Inc., have announced a new image masking tool called Turbo Mask, aimed at graphic artists and motion designers. Turbo Mask is designed to work with Adobe Photoshop CS. Paravue claims that Turbo Mask requires less skill than other masking software tools and that it uses new techniques to isolate graphic objects and remove them from backgrounds.

Exporter and Content for CS3

e frontier, has announced that they will offer a free exporter for Poser 7. The exporter will allow Photoshop CS3 Extended users to import Poser 3D content into the 3D layer of the image editing software.

Microsoft Windows Vista emergency patch

Microsoft have announced the release of an emergency security patch for its operating system Windows Vista. There are also patches available for Windows XP and Windows 2000.

Avid Xpress Pro for Intel Macs

Avid have announced the availability of Media Composer version 2.7 and also version 5.7 of Avid Xpress Pro software. Media Composer and Avid Xpress Pro now both support Intel-based Macs, as well as PowerPC Mac and Windows XP operating systems.

The new software also boasts editing and playback of the 720p50 HD format, XDCAM and P2 write-back capability and updated support for third party applications.
