News and reports of graphic design software updates

The major graphic design software applications are upgraded sporadically. Companies like Adobe, Quark and Corel update their programs every year or two.

But there are regular updates to many other design tools, plugins and utilities throughout the year and this section of Design : Talkboard reports the updates as and when they are released.

This includes incremental updates to the mainstays, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and QuarkXpress. But it also covers releases from some of the smaller graphics software publishers, plugins and utility manufacturers.

A note on software terminology. We use the term software upgrade when referring to a software release that has added major new features to a product. We apply software update to a release that is predominantly a bug fix or refinement of a feature.
