Adobe Production Studio to be released for Macs again. Includes Premiere Pro, Encore DVD and Soundbooth. Adobe Production Studio for Mac OS XSoftware publisher Adobe has announced that the next version of Adobe Production Studio – including Premiere Pro – will be released as a Universal Binary for Intel-based Macintosh computers. The decision by Adobe to release OS X versions of the software in Adobe Production Studio is a major boost for Mac-based multimedia, video and interactive designers. Adobe stopped developing Premiere for the Mac in 2003 in response, many design industry analysts claim, to Apple's release of its own video editing program Final Cut Pro. The availability of Premiere for the Mac, in particular, will come as good news for all fans of the platform and shows Adobe's continuing commitment to the Macintosh platform. Until this announcement, Adobe Production Studio had been available only as a Windows product, although After Effects was still available individually as a Mac OS X product. The Adobe Production Studio bundle contains two video design applications, Premiere Pro and After Effects; DVD authoring tool Encore DVD; Audition for sound editing; as well as Photoshop CS2 and Illustrator CS2 for graphics and illustration. The new release of Production Studio will replace Adobe Audition with Soundbooth, but will otherwise remain unchanged. Adobe will still develop Audition for sound designers and it will be sold as a stand-alone product for Windows video producers. The next version of Adobe Production Studio for Mac and Windows is expected to be available from the middle of 2007.
