Font management softwareMainType – Windows font management software Font Creator publisher, High-Logic, has released a font management utility for Windows users. Called MainType, now Windows designers have a another choice of font management tools to choose from. Suitcase, from Extensis, being another more established contender. Microsoft Windows has little in the way of built-in font management and so third party tools are essential for graphic designers, who tend to deal with a lot more fonts than the average home user. MainType is a drag and drop utility and offers a number of features to help designers manage large font collections including the ability to filter and sort typefaces, a font information pane that reveals important typographic data, and a groups pane to help organize font collections.  Other features include the ability to preview and browse fonts on any hard drive or directory, without the need for installation, full Unicode support, the ability to print and preview fonts and support for TrueType, OpenType and PostScript Type 1 fonts.There is also a font export wizard which can generate an html page overview of installed fonts. MainType costs US$40.00, but is available for a limited time for US$29.00, from the High-Logic web site.
