Adobe have upgraded their web publishing solution Contribute to include Flash video support. Adobe announce Contribute 4 and Softpress release Freeway 4It's upgrade number 4 for two web design packages, Adobe Contribute and Softpress Freeway. Graphics software publisher Adobe has added Flash video support to Contribute 4 and Softpress have released their easy to use web design software package Freeway. Adobe Contribute is a kind of cut down version of Dreamweaver, the professional web designers' development tool. Contribute is not much use as a web design or development tool, but it does allow simple basic text editing and graphics updates. Many web designers will give a client a copy of Contribute to use as a content management system to make basic updates to their site, once the main design has been finished and the structure of the site has been built. Contribute also allows web designers to act as administrators and assign separate users different levels of access to the web site. For example, some users can be enabled to only edit articles and submit them for publication, whilst others can be given permission to actually publish the articles onto the web site. Version 4 of Contribute adds support for drag and drop addition of Flash video and blog editing features. 7 October 2006 Freeway, from Softpress Systems Ltd., is a very different web design application. Freeway is aimed predominantly at print graphic designers who don't want to have to get involved in HTML coding or javascript. Freeway, a Mac only program, allows designers to layout web pages using WYSIWYG layout tools, before generating the actual web site. Version 4 of Freeway has added support for various display bugs in Internet Explorer 6. Freeway 4.3 is a Universal application for both PowerPC and Intel Macs and is available from the Softpress website. 27 September 2006 Web design related discussions from the forums
