Graphics software newsMac Intel Photoshop CS not available until third quarter of 2007Adobe's Intel version of Photoshop – known as universal binary (UB) – is unlikely to appear for Apple Macs until the middle to end of 2007. UB software for Apple Macs is able to be installed, and run natively, on both PowerPC Macs and the new Intel-based processor Macs, released by Apple earlier this year. Bruce Chizen, CEO of Adobe made the announcement in April in a press conference in Tokyo. Chizen dispelled potential speculation that Adobe were going to abandon the Mac OS X operating system, as a result of Apple's recent announcement about Boot Camp, by stating that; "For the majority of our products, writing directly to the Macintosh operating system is an advantage to the customers and you will see us continue to do so and not work through Boot Camp or the Windows emulator because we think that will not be good for the majority of our customers". However, he did admit that some Adobe graphics products would be discontinued on the Macintosh platform do to there not being a large enough demand. The DTP program Framemaker being one of these applications. Adobe Framemaker is a specialist page layout tool that is geared towards long technical document publishing and most of its user base uses Microsoft Windows. Another Adobe product, Premier – which is a mid level video production application – has not been upgraded for Macintosh users, probably as the result of Apple producing its own mid-range video editing program, Final Cut Pro. 25 April 2006 Other Adobe, Photoshop and Apple-Intel related topics
