The Iomega StorCenter Pro NAS 150d Server is a fast network storage device aimed at small businesses, such as graphic design studios and even SOHO designers who work with large amounts of data. The two models come in either 1 terrabyte or 2 terrabyte versions – consisting of four hot-swappable SATA II 250GB hard drives, or four hot-swappable SATA II 500GB hard drives respectively. 23 January 2007
Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station Apple has released a new AirPort Extreme Base Station. With the ability to share with 50 users, the new 802.11n technology Base Station offers, according to Apple, up to five times the performance and up to twice the range of the earlier 802.11g wireless networking standard. 10 January 2007 Intel introduces three more quad-core processors Intel Corporation has announced three more quad-core computer processors. Intel now offer nine quad-core processors for the desktop PC market. Intel's Core 2 processors have recently been adopted by a number of high-end computers which are aimed at graphics professionals, including Apple's professional desktop systems. 8 January 2007 SanDisk 32GB flash drive SanDisk Corporation has introduced a 32GB (gigabyte), 1.8-inch solid state flashdrive (SSD) as a replacement option for standard mechanical hard disk drives. Flash memory drives are much faster than ordinary hard disks, as they have no moving parts and don't need to spin to access the data stored on them. However, the larger capacity flash-based drives have traditionally been very expensive and are only now beginning to become affordable. 4 January 2007 Toshiba announces the first HD DVD writer Toshiba has announced the world’s first half-height HD DVD writer – the SD-H903A. Designed for single-bay desktop PCs, Toshiba’s SD-H903A will help designers to prouce high-definition video editing and content creation on desktop computer systems. The new device also provides read and write support for older disk formats, which allows designers to continue to use CD and DVD products alongside high-definition DVDs. Toshiba have also announced a new line of USB 2.0 portable external hard drives in various capacities, including 100GB, 120GB and 160GB. 4 January 2007 |
